Fête de la Musique Is Underway — Here Are The 4 Things You SHOULD Know
Fête de la Musique (World Music Week) started yesterday 18th June and will go on up to 24th June in different locations in Kampala including; Que Pasa, National Theatre, Sheraton Hotel, Cine-club and French School.
Yesterday Que Pasa hosted Uganda singers, poets and instrumentalists including Body of Brian, Wake the Poet, Apio Moro and Cyno MC.
Fête de la Musique is a French annual festival that debuted in 1982 and has been a tremendously internationally popular event, open to all. Its purpose is to celebrate different music styles and showcase a variety of musical genres.
Here are the 4 things you should know about the ongoing Fête de la Musique (World Music Week)
- Fête de la Musique main line up includes; Sylvester & Abramz, Apio Moro, Ecole Francaise Music Club, Faisal Mostrixx, Giovanni, Jackie Akello, Joram MC, Kongoloko, Mame N’Diack, Navio and Ssewa Ssewa
- Alliance Française will host French artist Laurent Assoulen at Sheraton Hotel on Wednesday for “Sentir” Perfume Concert, mixing jazz with Parisian perfume (tickets will be availabe for UGX40,000)
- Alliance Française will also host a Hiphop night at their building on Bukoto Street in the Kampala on Thursday
- Main and final free concert will be held on June 24th at École Française on Lugogo Bypass from 7pm; it will feature a great line up of Ugandan artistes mentioned in the first bullet with Navio closing down the Fête at midnight.
